| Description: |
Location - Milton Keynes. The Systems Administrator is responsible for the provision and maintenance of the European IT systems, both at the main UK office and remote European offices, and undertakes development projects.
The System Administrator also provides 2nd level network, hardware and software support to users and helpdesk staff. Where issues cannot be resolved, the Systems Administrator will liaise with the Systems Supervisor, Analysts, or 3rd suppliers where appropriate, to ensure a satisfactory and timely resolution.
To maximise uptime, the Systems Administrator will work flexible hours to ensure that maintenance work is performed outside normal business hours.
Education Completed:Minimum 5 years IT administration experience in a commercial environment delivering IT support and solutions to business users.
A-level standard of IT qualification or higher.
Microsoft MCP, MCSA or MCSE certification.
Foreign language (German, French, Spanish, Italian) beneficial.
Computer Literacy:Microsoft products including Windows server and desktop, Office, Exchange, SMS, SQL.
Database query and report writing skills.
Experience of managing business (ERP) software beneficial.
Networking: LAN/WANS, routers and switches.
Enterprise security: virus protection and firewalls.
Server and workstation hardware.
Specific Experience:Server assembly, installation and upgrade.
Firewall implementation and configuration, and network troubleshooting skills.
System Centre experience, MOM and DPM, SMS patch management and software roll outs.
MS SQL query writing and SQL reporting services.
Travel Time: Regular trips to European offices and meetings General Background: A quick learner who is eager to advance their career in IT. An excellent communicator with a desire to help users. Someone who is able to handle several issues at once and has a determination to deliver. A well organised person who is good at documenting their work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides second level support on hardware and software, including iScala, QlikView and other business systems. Undertakes regular European branch support visits and attends main sales meetings for support workshops. Provides out-of-hours emergency cover when required.
Ensures optimum performance of network and server systems, and is responsible for capacity and performance monitoring and reporting. Completes periodic maintenance routines.
Responsible for overall systems security and recovery, ensuring adequate backups are in place and functioning as well as anti-virus and other security measures. Matches disaster recovery provision to critical business systems and undertakes annual testing with DR partner.
Plans and completes infrastructure and systems development projects as and when required.
Creates and maintains systems documentation.
Provides user training to non IT/iScala literate users. |
