Location - Northampton. Purpose of job:
To document the configuration of the SQL Server 2005 farm and recommend a best practice approach to its support.
Principal accountabilities:
1. Analyse the configuration of the existing SQL Server 2005 farm.
2. Document the configuration of the SQL Server farm and highlight any areas where action needs to be taken to improve performance.
3. Hold presentation sessions with Application Support staff to ensure that they are fully aware of all SQL Server support issues and the means of resolving them.
4. Assist and mentor Application Support staff in SQL Server support tasks.
5. Demonstrate to Application Support staff the best way to exploit the benefits of Spotlight for SQL Server as a support tool.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Proven experience of administering SQL Server 2005 databases in a SQL Server farm environment.
Experience of using Spotlight as a tool in supporting SQL Server databases.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Experience of supporting business applications.
Experience of SQL Server 2008 database administration.
This is a contract role for a minimum of 4 months. |
